The Color Purple
There is a lot of focus these days on Red and Blue, Democrats and Republicans, Liberals and Conservatives and everything between and more often apart. Everything in the country feels like it is divided, sliced and diced. Our politicians, the media, and often even our friends see the world this way. But the truth is, our country and people are largely united in their belief in the principles that this country was founded upon, freedom, liberty, and justice for all. Outside of the media and political vitriol, in our living rooms, we are more similar than apart. But keeping us divided creates more opportunities for smaller groups of people to exploit the majority. As Caeser said, divide and conquer.
The truth is we are the color purple. Recent polls show that most of us still view the world through the foundations of our republic and express those values through the issues that we face today. If we could focus on what unites us as opposed to what divides us, we can find a meaningful path forward and get back to being a beacon of hope and freedom in the world.
